Miniature Geodome

A few months ago I had a great time building a couple of Geodesic Domes with the team at SketchUp. These were fun to design, fabricate and even more fun to build with a great group of people. You can read all about it here.

I've been finding that when I try to explain how one of these geodomes work, that it's best to have one. I decided to 3D print one. I created the hubs in SketchUp and printed them on a MakerBot. I used black bar straws for the struts. I'll be posting up a full how-to soon. For now, check out the pictures!

If you'd like to own your own, see the bottom of this post to purchase one.

$35.00

This 3D printed geodesic dome is an engineering marvel and incredibly fun to assemble. The hubs and the straws press fit together. Follow the included instructions and you will have a dome in no time. This is a great science project, or just for fun. You'll be amazed at how strong straws become when assembled this way.

The kit includes all the hubs you need, pre-cut straws, instructions and spare parts.

Hubs may be in random colors. Ships to US only.
